TOWNHALL MEETING NOTICE: Commissioner's Gator Hodges and Roger McDaniel will hold a townhall meeting on Tuesday, February 9th at 6:30 PM at the Worthville Baptist Church, 112 Old South River Road off of Keys Ferry Road. The purpose of this townhall meeting will be to discuss the recent decision to temporarily close the Worthville Fire Station, to hear citizen concerns and for other business that may come up.

OPERATING HOURS FOR RECYCLING CENTERS MONDAY: All Centers Open 1PM to 7PM TUESDAY: All Centers CLOSED WEDNESDAY:All Centers Open 7AM-1PM THURSDAY: All Centers Open 1PM-7PM FRIDAY: All Centers CLOSED SATURDAY: All Centers Open 7AM-7PM SUNDAY: Stark Road and Worthville Centers ONLY: OPEN 1PM to 7PM All others closed on Sunday Additionally, the sites will be closed on the normal County holidays that are listed on the right side of this webpage. Signs will be posted at each center announcing the new operating hours.

Butts County Temporarily Closes  Worthville Fire Station 3 County Administrator Alan White announced the temporary closure of the Worthville Fire Station effective February 1, 2010. The existing structure had several building deficiencies which rendered it unsafe for firemen to use. A temporary trailer had been stationed there for housing the fireman assigned daily to the fire engine. The personnel assigned to operate this engine will be quartered at the next closest fire station in Stark. Since the Stark engine has not been manned in several years, this will allow this engine to be manned for coverage of the Stark and Worthville areas. Previously, this engine had only gone out if there were personnel available to take the engine on calls. Chief Tommy Ingram has applied for a grant which, if successful, would allocate funds to build a new fire station to replace the old Worthville station.
